AutoFlagger® has FHWA interim approval and is an approved, traffic control device
in
Minnesota (MnDOT
link click the 'work zone' tab on the bottom). Designed to create a safe environment for
flaggers, workers and motorists. Engineered and built, as one MnDOT
worker put it, "to last forever". For eight years it has been
tested by the Minnesota
Department of Transportation under the auspices of the FHWA. That's
without failure, in blistering heat, high winds, rain, as well as snow
and cold. It is a legitimate, credible device that looks like it belongs
on the road surface and that is why motorists' respect it. A drop
arm is available as an option on AutoFlagger®, contact our sales
department to discuss you specific application.
From a safer more
centralized location, one operator can control both ends of the work
zone with a wireless, handheld controller. After reading the specifications, we are certain you will agree that this product is
overbuilt, but, in no way overpriced. In fact, MnDOT did a study (view
study) that shows a 59.74 day payback on this device. St. Louis
County has submitted a similar payback analysis (click
to view). That makes for a win-win
situation; It saves lives and it saves money.
Wind Proof Design
¤ The totally enclosed octagonal shell has a front,
3/16" polycarbonate cover.
¤ 36" Diamond grade decals on a black background
make visibility a secondary issue.
¤ The regulatory sign/cover folds up into a locked
position to protect the decals and head from UV degradation.
Wireless Control./
Electrical
¤ 900 MHz,
Spread Spectrum transceivers.
¤ 40 watt solar panel on
each sign/trailer.
¤ In addition to controlling the STOP and SLOW
positions of multiple signs, the handheld controller can activate emergency warning horns located on
the back of each sign head.
¤ The handheld has a large
LCD display that clearly shows the position status of each sign. It also
comes complete with back up batteries and a dual charging bay that is
located in the tool/battery box.
¤ Dump truck/Pay-loader crossing
mode. This allows a heavy equipment operator to override the default
mode and set both signs to read SLOW simultaneously. The operator,
without the use of flaggers, can stop both lanes of traffic, cross the
lanes and then set both signs to SLOW.
Auxiliary Lighting
¤ The 12", Electro-Tec, red LED signal head is
topped by a red strobe.
¤ Side mounted amber strobes.
¤ The operator always has a visual status of the
signs; Flashing red strobe indicates that the sign is in the STOP
position. Flashing amber strobes indicate that the sign is in the
SLOW position. The absence of either indicates that the sign is in
transition. The system is designed so the lights cannot be activated
unless the signs are in position, thereby assuring safety critical
operator feedback.
Trailer
¤ Swivel,
trailer jacks located on each corner.
¤ The nested trailer design allows multiple signs to
be coupled together and towed as a single unit.
¤ Diamond plate trailer deck on
the front half, open frame rear half - hydraulic brakes -
3,500# axle - vertically adjustable hitch - polyethylene bumper
pads.
¤ Polyethylene tool/battery box w/
key lock.
¤ Sealed tail
lights.
¤ Sealed frame with mitered
corners.
Additional Features
¤ Manual override buttons and ON/OFF switch are
mounted on each head.
¤ The hinged, solar panel is mounted on a gas shock
absorber to prevent snow build up.
¤ Metal surfaces are
sandblasted, primed and painted with acrylic polyurethane paint.
Transportability
¤ The sign head is vertically adjustable from 122" to 140" maximum, and swivels 360 degrees for transport. Sign head lift via 12vdc linear actuator.
